Virtuoso musicians to perform in Cowra

Cowra Community News, 21 June 2010

Two of the world’s most highly regarded musicians will perform at the Cowra Civic Centre on Sunday, July 4, at 2pm.

David Pereira (cello) and Tamara Anna Cislowska (piano) will appear in concert to perform the music of Chopin and others.

Mr Pereira is one of the most highly-regarded of cellists, having formerly been principal cello with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He now resides in Canberra where he teaches at the ANU School of Music.

Ms Cislowska is no stranger to Cowra audiences, having performed at both gala concerts to celebrate the re-opening of the Civic Centre last year. She has performed internationally in the United States, Italy, Japan, Greece and Poland. Ms Cislowska has also associated with both the Philharmonia in the United Kingdom and the Romanian Philharmonic orchestras as well as all six major Australian symphony orchestras.

“We are indeed fortunate to have been able to secure these two world-class professional performers to come to Cowra for an afternoon of beautiful music,” says Arts Council president, Jon Wright. “I am sure that the people of Cowra will respond to this unique event.

“We are always keen to encourage young people, especially music students, to attend. So, accordingly, students aged 18 and under will be admitted completely free of charge if accompanied by a paying adult.”

A feature of the concert will be Chopin’s cello sonata. A wide and varied program will be performed to entertain the audience. CDs will be for sale and refreshments will be served at intermission and at the conclusion of the concert.
